FinnAgora organised on the 3rd of November 2022 a conference on climate change and sustainable energy solutions. The theme was discussed especially on the local municipality level. The experts highlighted and discussed for example different energy solutions to battle climate change. During the event different solutions from Finland and Hungary were presented and innovations and questions related to them.
The conference was organised at the Embassy of Finland and in collaboration with Green Policy Center and the Hungarian company Connecting Finland.
The opening speech was held by senior advisor from Sitra Oras Tynkkynen. He presented in his presentation how Finland prepares for the upcoming winter and energy crisis. The multifaceted presentation inspired listeners to a discussion with questions and comments.
The subject of municipalities was discussed on a very practical level through the City of Espoo, whose Director for Sustainable Development Elina Wanne talked about how energy solutions are part of the growth and development of the city. Example of a Hungarian municipality was given with Kecskemét by expert on City Development Vjacsezsláv Kurenkov. Also Zsolt Pintér from Scytenergy and György Bíró from IAG/Profigram held presentations.
The event was opened by FinnAgora interim director Anneli Temmes and Ambassador of Finland Pentti Anttinen. András Huszár and Attila Debreceni were the facilitator of the event.
The attendees, mainly from municipalities, found the presentations and the discussions as important. The discussion continued afterwards in the form of dinner at the residency of the Embassy of Finland, hosted by the Embassy.
