The Taste Finland pop-up restaurant day attracted a record-breaking audience this year. The event, which was organised on 21 May on the courtyard of the Finnish Embassy, served up to 500 meals to visitors interested in Finnish cuisine.
The chef students from the Åland Islands were very happy to bring flavours from Finland and the Åland islands to Budapest. There were stands selling wine and baked goods, the Finnish game mölkky, a yard sale and beautiful sunny weather.
Zsófia Hangyál, the creator of Zrillanka Designs, held workshops for people to fix broken pieces of clothing. Arkki Hungary, a children’s architecture school that has just arrived to Hungary from Finland, held a day-long workshop for children in which they got to create and build imaginative structures with Finnish candy and toothpicks. The Finnish musicians Maco Oey and Janne Saksa entertained the audience with live music for children and grownups.
The atmosphere was very lovely and it was a great way to welcome the summer!
All the profits from the event were donated to Salva Vita Alapítvány offering work possibilities for people with disabilities.
The event was organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Finland.
