Taste Finland pop-up restaurant 2025
Place: The Finnish Embassy courtyard, Kelenhegyi út 16/a, Budapest
Time: Saturday 10th of May, 1pm to 4pm
The pop-up restaurant day Taste Finland is here again! Come and enjoy food, music, workshops and a lovely atmosphere in the courtyard of the Finnish Embassy. Organized for the 12th time, the popular food event will be continuing the tradition of environmentally friendly themes, as this year the chefs will again prepare delicious vegetarian food.
FOOD:
- There will be a main dish and a dessert available for purchase. The food will be prepared by our guest chefs from Finland, the students of Åland's Vocational High School. Åland, or the Åland Islands, is an autonomous region of Finland.
- Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available. Try especially our own “sima”, meaning non-alcoholic mead, and “sahti”, a Finnish specialty drink often described as unfiltered beer.
- Scandinavian pastries, ice cream and excellent coffee will be sold by the Nordic style bakery Nor/ma.
- The Finnish school in Budapest's kiosk will be selling a selection of small sweets.
PROGRAM:
- Sauna: A special feature of this year's Taste Finland will be the Finnish-style mobile Sauna To Go on site during the whole event!
- Architecture workshop: Arkki Hungary will host a LEGO-based workshop with the theme "Helsinki: Future City" in the embassy library for both the young and creative!
- Food recycling: Mark Richards from Auróra Climate Garden in Budapest will host a workshop around what we all should do with food waste - the answer, of course, is composting! Join us as we build a worm composter system on the day.
- Puppet theatre: FinnAgora's Moomin Puppet Theatre, beloved already at Finn Filmnapok, makes a comeback with a new show in honor of Moomin's 80th birthday year. Come also to make your own Moomin puppet figure at our crafts workshop.
- Finnish hits: A specially curated playlists spanning the past decades and the best of contemporary Finnish music will be played throughout the event.
The event is free of charge - food and wine will be sold at affordable prices. Please note that we recommend card payment when purchasing the food prepared by the chefs. For other purchases we also recommend bringing cash. The event is dog-friendly.
The event is organized by FinnAgora, the Finnish Institute in Hungary, and the Embassy of Finland in cooperation with Ålands Yrkesgymnasium.
