Taste Finland 2026
Place: The Finnish Embassy courtyard, Kelenhegyi út 16/a, Budapest
Time: Saturday 16th of May, 12pm to 4pm
The garden party and pop-up restaurant day Taste Finland is here again! Come and enjoy food, sauna, dance, games, workshops and a lovely atmosphere in the courtyard of the Finnish Embassy. Organized for the 13th time, the popular food event continues its tradition of environmentally friendly themes, as this year the chefs will again prepare delicious vegetarian food.
FOOD:
- There will be a main dish and a dessert available for purchase. The food will be prepared by our guest chefs from Finland, the students of Åland’s Vocational High School. Åland, or the Åland Islands, is an autonomous region of Finland.
- Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available. Our familiar partner beer restaurant Keg will be serving non-alcoholic and alcoholic beers, with gluten-free options also available. There is also a selection of wines from small producers.
- Nordic sweets will be offered this year by the Swedish candy shop Poppy.
- The Finnish school in Budapest’s kiosk will be serving refreshments.
PROGRAM:
- Sauna: A very popular sauna experience returns to Taste Finland. There will be a Finnish-style mobile sauna on site during the whole event.
- Tango workshop: The free experience includes a Finnish-style tango lesson with an instructor, followed by an outdoor session where you can dance together in a relaxed lavatanssi-style (Finnish-style social dancing) setting with the teacher.
- Architecture workshop: Arkki Hungary will host a workshop with the theme “Design your own restaurant” in the embassy library, an activity suitable for both the young and the creative.
- Yard games: Challenge your friends and family in the classic Finnish outdoor game Mölkky, or unleash your inner artist and decorate the asphalt with different coloured chalk.
- Finnish hits: A specially curated playlist spanning the past decades and the best of contemporary Finnish music will be played throughout the event.
The event and all the activities are free of charge - food and wine will be sold at affordable prices. Please note that we recommend card payment when purchasing the food prepared by the chefs. For other purchases we also recommend bringing cash. The event is dog-friendly.
The event is organized by FinnAgora, the Finnish Institute in Hungary, and the Embassy of Finland in cooperation with Ålands Yrkesgymnasium.
