Finnish documentaries to be screened at Budapest International Documentary Festival
The 4th edition of Budapest International Documentary Festival (BIDF) features two Finnish documentaries: Hobby Horse Revolution and The Good Postman. Budapest International Documentary Festival takes place between 23.1 – 28.1.2018.
Hobby Horse Revolution is a documentary by Oscar nominated director Selma Vilhunen. The documentary is a humorous and touching story about a gang of young Finnish hobby horse enthusiasts. The hobby horse movement has in the last decade grown to become a beloved hobby and lifestyle for thousands of youngsters. Selma Vilhunen will be present for a Q&A during the festival.
The Good Postman is a Bulgarian-Finnish documentary that shows a local postman running for mayor in his small Bulgarian village on the border to Turkey. The village is slowly dying, and the postman is campaigning with the idea to welcome Syrian refugees to live in and repopulate the village. In 2016 Variety magazine featured The Good Postman as one of five films that best described the refugee crisis of 2015.
