31st Budapest International Book Festival

The 31st Budapest International Book Festival will take place from 1-4 October 2026 at the HUNGEXPO Budapest Congress and Exhibition Center. This year's theme is German-language literature, with Germany, Austria, and Switzerland featured as guest countries of honour. The festival's guest author of honour will be the Irish writer Colm Tóibín.

Finland will also be represented with its own stand, showcasing Finnish literature and culture, including an exhibition of Finnish literature translated into Hungarian, curated jointly by FinnAgora and the Embassy of Finland in Hungary.
