Two Finnish documentaries at the Budapest International Documentary Festival

The third edition of Budapest International Documentary Festival (BIDF) brings the documentary enthusiasts together from 24th of September – to 2nd of October 2016. This year Finnish documentary film making is represented by two films in the program. It is our pleasure that the directors of the films will be here visiting the festival.

Miles to Go Before I Sleep (2015), a short documentary by Hanna Hovitie, tells a story of a young Congolese girl called Achat. Achat, a victim of child-trafficking has seen too much at a young age, and after many phases she ends up in Finland as an asylum seeker. Don Juan is a Finnish-Swedish co-production directed by Jerzy Sladkowski. The tragicomic documentary introduces a young Russian man named Oleg, whose life is overpowered by his mother. Oleg, who is considered autistic, has a long way to go as he tries to free himself from impressions of other people. Don Juan won the Best Feature Length Documentary award at the International Documentary Filmfestival Amsterdam (IDFA) in 2015.
